Every single day that passes with popular vote loser Donald Trump as president I miss his predecessor a little more, and for a variety of reasons – his intelligence, his thoughtfulness, his integrity, his lack of scandals and cover ups, my lack of fear that our president will get offended by a tweet and nuke the entire world, etc.
One characteristic of Obama though that I miss the most is his sense of humor. It’s been abundantly clear for years that Donald Trump has no sense of humor at all, so when he tried to make a joke during a speech to the United Nations earlier this week, it’s no surprise that his attempt at levity elicited a less than rapturous response:
“I ask every country represented here today to be prepared to do more to address this very real crisis. We call for the full restoration of democracy and political freedoms in Venezuela,” Trump said, pausing briefly as the UN members applauded.
“The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented,” he added.
Trump again paused, expecting another applause. But he had to wait roughly four seconds before receiving a tepid response.

During his first official address to the UN General Assembly, Trump also delivered a stern warning to North Korea and referred to Kim Jong-un as “rocket man.” You just can’t make this stuff up, folks.
Donald, leave the jokes to the late night comedians – you’re much better as the punchline than the one trying to deliver the joke.
