Major stakeholders such as Producers, marketers and distributors of South African wines converged at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, on Saturday for a well-attended wine tasting experiences organized by Wines of South Africa (WOSA).
Some of Accra’s finest connoisseurs and wine lovers also got the chance to sample some of the world-acclaimed South African wines.
The event, a the second edition after last year’s ceremony brought together several wine producers from South Africa to Ghana to interact with consumers and distributors as well as the hospitality and tourism industry
This year’s event was held alongside preliminaries to select a hospitality industry worker for the prestigious Sommelier World Cup competition in South Africa. On a sad note applicants from Ghana could not qualify to win an all-expense paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa to represent the country at the Sommelier World Cup, in September 2016.
However a lucky guest at the wine tasting event won all-expense paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa to attend the Sommelier World Cup.
The wine tasting event is a continuation of WOSA’s recognition of Ghana as a competitive market over the years for South African Wines. Mr Matome Mbatha, stated in hopes that the event will explore and offer more opportunities for Ghana’s hospitality and service industry to showcase their knowledge and talent in the prestigious wine industry and hopefully entrench the lifestyle culture of wine beyond the traditional markets.
The fair was a partnership event held with the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Williams Events Company and the EIB network.
