The Director of Communication for the Naperville High School – Michelle Fregoso has said that the supposed post was made on Sunday.
“The students involved and their parents have met with school administration to discuss the matter,” Michelle disclosed. She went further to state that the students involved will face consequences. “There will be consequences; however we do not as a matter of school district policy discuss student discipline.”
The video which was first posted on Instagram shows two females, they can be heard making multiple racist remarks about black people.
A student, Mariama kollie said she went straight to the dean’s office Monday morning after seeing the video.
“They were disgusted and they knew that this is now they wanted our school to be represented,”
The director of communication, Fregoso said the school will continue to talk with students and staff about appropriate social media use and that “words hurt and can have unintended consequences.”
“NNHS is a comprehensive and inclusive high school that continually strives to educate our students on the cultures and diversity that make us, as a school community, so dynamic,” she said. “This incident is wholly not a representation of North’s inclusive student and staff community.”
Kollie and some student have rallied on social media to inform against the video. “I might be labeled as an angry black girl but that’s fine, because I know that was wrong and I could use my voice to say something,” Kollie said.
